Final Score:

Power 10.18 (78)

Roosters 6.3 (39)

——- Game Summary ——
Polly captained the team with Fritzy as his deputy to start our Power season
for 2012.  We started the game well but didn’t convert on the scoreboard
partly due to adjusting to kicking into the wind.  Des Moines are a physical
team and take a hard line at the ball.  We stood up well and kept focus on
the task of winning the ball and maintaining possession.   After a slight
lead at 1/4 time we began the 2nd quarter by utilizing the wind and
peppering the goals.  Skippy and Skiets were providing great options in the
half forward line and the center and on ballers of Polly, Fritzy, Stan,
Cherry, and Kevin were all working hard with success.  The backline was very
much in control with Diction and Thias leading the way and Rusty was holding
up well and showing no signs of his calf injury. Skippy started the 3rd
quarter with a goal on the run and new guy Kevin and Peter Chung also had
chances to kick goals with only a minor score resulting. Joey goaled late in
the quarter to have us 37 points up at the last change.  With us kicking
with the wind in the last quarter it presented a very hard task for the
Roosters who had battled hard all day.  The Power could have used the wind
better for the last 20 mins but only managed 3 goals 3 behinds, whilst also
conceding 3 goals.  New guys Lance and Kevin impressed, and Peter Chung had
the miss of the day after tackling a Rooster and snagging the ball, only to
run into an open goal and spray it left for a behind.  Special thanks to
Lambo, Peter Chung, and Dutchy for umpiring. Thanks also to our fans who
made the trip to support us and the Roosters for hosting us.
